What I've been up to this week #19

A lot has happened this week as we've been in England all week for Christmas!

Spent Sunday reading and I finished reading this graphic novel that I really enjoyed

Waiting for my grandad to arrive!

We got the eurotunnel to England which we rarely do, we usually get the ferry, and on our drive home we saw a really beautiful sunset

As we always do we spent the day after we arrive in town, which was decorated for Christmas but it didn't feel Christmassy at all they weren't event playing Christmas music even though it was two days until Christmas

was very exciting as I had Christmas money to spend and obviously I HAD to go to Waterstones!!! I picked up about 10 books in total from the works and Waterstones. I also got about 5/6 books for Christmas which was very exciting!!

My nanny made a Christmas cake

Had an afternoon in the old town which is always nice. They have a bookshop that I always go to but this time I didn't buy any book even though a few caught my attention! Found them on vinted for a fraction of the price so that's a bonus!

Christmas dinner!!!!!! The meal I've been waiting for for a whole year!!!!!

Everyone spent the afternoon watching tv so I took the opportunity to read all afternoon. I even managed to finish reading a whole book! Which I loved!

Felt weird seeing a dog in the house since we had to put our dog down a few weeks ago

Stocked up on gravy and bought my first Colin the caterpillar for me and mum to enjoy on new year's eve!

Had fish and chips (well we all had battered sausages and saveloys)

Started this book the day after Christmas and I'm already half way through!!!! I've been wanting to read this forever so I'm very excited to finally be reading it!

What I've been up to this week #18

Not much has happened this week but next week will be more fun because we're off to England for a week to celebrate Christmas with my grandparents!

We ended the weekend by going to the Christmas parade in Dunkirk which was very nice.

Did lots of reading this week. Here's the book I'm currently reading and some books I've finished this week!

Tuesday was the most exciting day of the week as I got a new tattoo by my favourite tattoo artist ever! If you're ever in Dunkirk and want to get a tattoo contact Jeannettepoke at the Strawberry tattoo shop! It's my fourth tattoo by her and I'm as always obsessed with what she created which was exactly what I wanted. A couple days before his death, we decided to take the imprint of our dog's paws and I sent that to her and she managed to come up with this and it's perfect!!

See you next week for a more exciting blog post!

Make the season bright book review (includes spoilers)

A couple weeks ago I finished reading this book and I still can't stop thinking about it because it was really good. I may even go as far as to say it's one of my favourite books ever. Of course I had to give it 5 stars!

It's about two women (Charlotte and Brighton) who are childhood best friends, they were engaged and meant to get married but Brighton left Charlotte at the altar. They haven't been in contact in 5 years since Charlotte was left at the altar but both their friends groups go to Charlotte's mums house for Christmas.  She signs all the characters up for different activities and soon enough, Charlotte and Brighton are paired up at the same activity as a duo. This forces them to be close and get back into contact. At the start of the book they ignore each other completely as nobody in the friend group knows about Charlotte and Brighton's history. At one point, they get snowed in and are forced to talk about everything that happened on their wedding day, and everything that has happened in the 5 years they haven't been in contact! The plot twists that happen during the last 20 pages were insane I had no idea the story would end like the way it did. Basically at the end everything is back to normal between them and fast forward a couple years and they even get engaged again!!

Ashley Herring Blake (the author of make the season bright) is the same author that wrote Delilah Green doesn't care (and the other books in that series) and I LOVED THEM so much!!!! So I knew I would love her way of writing which I did, and I couldn't put the book down I always wanted to know what happened next!

I saw lots of people say they didn't like the book because they could never forgive someone that did that to them and I get it but I honestly didn't mind it, it was so fun to read I didn't care.

I haven't read the rest of the other books in the Bright Falls series (the books that follow Delilah Green doesn't care) but I'm even more excited to read them now I've read make the season bright!

What I've been up to this week #17

Once again the photos aren't loading in chronological order but basically here's what I've been up to this week!
We started the weekend by going to the Gravelines Christmas market, which was a bit disappointing for us because we arrived before it opened and by the time we went round, had lunch and were ready to go home it still wasn't open so we knocked it on the head and went home!

Did a lot of reading at the library this week and talking of reading here's the books I read this week! Nocturnal is a poetry book that I loved, coming in was a queer graphic novel that I also loved. I heard a lot about le journal de samuel which is why I read it but it was a bit boring, I think I would have probably enjoyed it more if I was younger. Cult of two was very very weird. Looking back I should have given it 2 stars. Some of the poems were very good but some of them were really graphic and sexual and it was weird, cringy and uncomfortable to read. I would recommend coming in and nocturnal but would not recommend le journal de samuel or cult of two!

Made risotto (my favourite meal)

Made these these tshirts for everyone

My french grandparents sent us money for Christmas so I bought myself a new film camera which is soooo much better than my first one! I love both and will continue to use both but this one has a zoom ?!?! and I can manually turn the flash on or off

Wednesday was mum's favourite day of the year. We went to the town hall and saw father Christmas house and all the decorations they set up for it. I have to say it's very magical and it immediately puts you in the Christmas spirit. Here's some of my favourite pieces from the experience!

Here's mum and I being silly sods

Went to the Thai restaurant

Always with me!

Wrapped a lot of presents this week !!

Next week is the last full week before we go to England to visit my grandparents for Christmas which I'm very much looking forward to!
