What i've been up to this week #13

I've been in a reading slump for about a month and a half and I've decided to start reading this Christmassy book I recently bought I'll let you know what I thought of it!

The Christmas decorations have started to be put up in town, I'm trying my hardest to convince mum to put our tree up now but with no luck so far

Had pasta carbonara which I hadn't had in like 2 weeks so I was very happy about that

Did a lot of junk journaling this week. Everytime someone came to my flat in Lille I would take a picture of them to put on my fridge so I decided to put all my photos in this journal. I've just decided to make a photo album of my last 3 years in Lille so I might end up taking them out of my journal to put in my photo album.

Had my favourite salad on the train back from Lille

Had an appointment at the health center

My train to Lille got cancelled and then the train I was going to get after that was delayed 90mn which meant I wasn't going to arrive at my appointment in time so I got a carpool to Lille and was able to watch the sunrise in the car

Wednesday was spent spending the morning at the ophtalmologist and in the afternoon we went to choose our new glasses

On monday it was my diaversary (basically the anniversary of when you were diagnosed with diabetes) and I spent that day in hospital with the diabetic nurse and saw lots of different tests

Andddd back to last sunday, I spent the whole day putting my furniture on sale I earned almost 60€ and someone is coming this week to pick up more so I'll have earned even more!! Bonus!!

What I've been up to this week #12

This week has been totally chaotic and so much has happened so let's go on a trip down memory lane! Once again the pictures won't load in the right order so we'll be starting from yesterday to end up at last sunday lol

Yesterday was moving back home day so my day started at 5am lol. I finished tidying a last few bits and waited for my best friend to arrive with the van we rented for the day. I was a bit stressed we would have an accident but it went completely fine and he even said it was a lot easier to drive than he thought. He arrived at my flat at 9:40, we filled the van up in like 30mn then drove back to Dunkirk which took just over an hour and emptied the whole van in 30mn thanks to my mum and my brother helping us.

Then we drove back to Lille because we had to hand the van back in at 4:30 and after that we went for a coffee and then my best friend's girlfriend met up with us and we ended up going for a drink at the bar and went to the restaurant after that (I had the worst salad ever and my drink that I always have and is always lovely tasted disgusting so it was quite disappointing)

Friday morning I got a message saying I'd won a football ticket giveway so my sister's boyfriend drove my sister and I to Dunkirk in the evening to watch the match with my brother, it was a lot of fun

Went for a coffee on friday afternoon and then went to a new book shop in Lille that specialises in romance books and they apaprently had loads of lgbtq+ books and loads of stickes so I ended up buying books and stickers for my sister and I

Thursday was the funnest day of the week and will probably be in the top 5 best days of 2025. My best friend lives in the Netherlands and usually a few times a year we meet up either somewhere in the Netherlands or in Lille to hang out for a couple days or even a week. We hadn't hung out in 18 months for some reason so she had a day off work that week and I needed a break from tidying my flat so we said let's meet up (we planned it less than 24 hours before meeting up lol). We chose to meet up in Rotterdam (city I'd already spent a couple days in two summers ago with my other best friend) so I got the bus at 6am arrived there at 10am. We went to the Remastered experience which I'd alread done but I knew she woud love it. We obvioulsy had to stop at Albert Heijn and my friend made me taste all the different types of peppernotten (typical small buiscuit that is only around at Christmas). We had a picnic then we wanted to go to this shop called 'its a present' that I'd seen on tiktok. I bought a couple presents for a couple people, then we ended up in a really cool shop where my friend bought some incence, she bought me some cristals and I bought an essential oil. We also saw on tiktok that there was a photobooth in a café in Rotterdam so we went there and took some pictures. We also wanted to go to the disco booth but didn't have time! Then it was already time to slowly walk back to the station, say goodbye and get the bus back to Lille. The way there was only 3 hours but on the way back it took 4 hours because we were stuck in traffic for 30mn and we had a 30mn break lol

On Wednesday night me and my best friend hung out, we went to the bar for a couple drinks and then came back to my flat to eat some gyozas and watch some youtube videos

Just before hanging out with my best friend I hung out with my sister. We wanted to go to Sostrene Grene because they have all their christmas stuff out and we saw on tiktok that they had some new fun junk journalling supplies so we went there and then we both knew they had teletubbies blind boxes at pop mart (which opened like 10 days ago) so we went there and bought a couple things after queueing for a bit. The wait was worth it because we both got exactly what we wanted !!!

Spent many hours on the train this week fueled by coffee

On monday I hung out with my new friend at the coffee shop which was a lot of fun too!

We were having Deliveroo on Saturday night (in Dunkirk) and my sister (who was in Lille) was invited and she came all the way from Lille for Deliveroo lol. We watched Meann Girls which I'd never seen and it's quickly become one of my favourite films ever it was so fun to watch. We both needed to get the train back to Lille on Sunday so we got the train together!

That's it for this week lol see you next week for more adventures!

What I've been up to this week #11

For some reason the photos won't load in order so this week's post will be in the wrong order of the days but here's the recap of this week:
Yesterday we went to have lunch with one of mums friends that we hadn't seen in 2 years

Had a bit of a diabetic nightmare this week. I had to go on multiple walks a day beacause my blood sugars were so high. I also had to change my cgm while we were in England so I did that. That cgm fell off after a day BUT I'd only brought one cgm with me as I had to change it 2 days before coming home so I thought it would be fine. IT WASN'T!!!!!! That cgm fell off my arm after a day so I was doomed. I also hadn't bought my finger pricker so I couldn't manually check my blood sugars. So it meant I had to spend over 48 hours without knowing what my blood sugars were, which was a bit scary!!!!!! THEN we came home so I put a new cgm on BUT it failed because the needle didn't go into my arm properly so I had to change it AGAIN. And then that cgm worked but blimey what a nightmare!!!

Finally found franui in the shop (they've only existed for a few months I think but they're always really hard to find). They're frozen raspberries covered in white chocolate and then covered in milk chocolate, they were lovely we ate the whole pot in like 10 minutes lol!

We said goodbye to Hastings until Christmas!

Me and my brother never take photos together so this was a rare occasion.

On our last day in England the weather was a bit grotty but we wanted to do something anyways so we went into town and the old town. It wasn't raining much when we left the house but on our way back to the car from the old town we got drenched because it was pouring down with rain!!!

Tried this milk as we don't have it in France and I LOVED it. It tastes exactly like porridge and bonus, its sugar free !!

Celebrated mum's birthday.

Went to Sainsbury's. We always find loads of clothes while we're there because they always seem to have a clearance section!!

We went to Blackbrooks garden center and they had all their Christmas stuff out and we bought some Christmas soaps.

Had Cornish pasties and mash (one of my favourite meals ever).

Went to the Ashford designer outlet and bought loads of clothes. They were about to open their Christmas market so the Christmas atmosphere was there. I always go into le creuset and dream I could buy all their stuff but it costs a fortune so I never buy anything lol.

Went to tkmaxx and I bought a watch and then we went to poundstrechers and I bought some Christmas grinch pyjamas for me and mum.

Played the game of life and I won!

;
Had the best roast dinner ever!!

Also had a battered sausage and chips from the fish and chips shop.

Bought the essentials as a type one diabetic. I always see English type one diabetics praise this brand so I had to give it a go and I had a hypo so I got to try these and I have to say I'm veryyyy impressed within minutes my blood sugar was going up again! Will buy more of these when I'm back in England.

As I said in last week's post, me and mum spent our Saturday afternoon going to loads of charity shops to buy loads of books again. I think me and mum must have bought like 30 books each on this trip so I'm definitely excited to start reading them all!!!

Not captured this week: me and my brother getting tickets to go see the Brazil vs Tunisia football match in Lille in 10 days!!
