What I've been up to this week #11

For some reason the photos won't load in order so this week's post will be in the wrong order of the days but here's the recap of this week:
Yesterday we went to have lunch with one of mums friends that we hadn't seen in 2 years

Had a bit of a diabetic nightmare this week. I had to go on multiple walks a day beacause my blood sugars were so high. I also had to change my cgm while we were in England so I did that. That cgm fell off after a day BUT I'd only brought one cgm with me as I had to change it 2 days before coming home so I thought it would be fine. IT WASN'T!!!!!! That cgm fell off my arm after a day so I was doomed. I also hadn't bought my finger pricker so I couldn't manually check my blood sugars. So it meant I had to spend over 48 hours without knowing what my blood sugars were, which was a bit scary!!!!!! THEN we came home so I put a new cgm on BUT it failed because the needle didn't go into my arm properly so I had to change it AGAIN. And then that cgm worked but blimey what a nightmare!!!

Finally found franui in the shop (they've only existed for a few months I think but they're always really hard to find). They're frozen raspberries covered in white chocolate and then covered in milk chocolate, they were lovely we ate the whole pot in like 10 minutes lol!

We said goodbye to Hastings until Christmas!

Me and my brother never take photos together so this was a rare occasion.

On our last day in England the weather was a bit grotty but we wanted to do something anyways so we went into town and the old town. It wasn't raining much when we left the house but on our way back to the car from the old town we got drenched because it was pouring down with rain!!!

Tried this milk as we don't have it in France and I LOVED it. It tastes exactly like porridge and bonus, its sugar free !!

Celebrated mum's birthday.

Went to Sainsbury's. We always find loads of clothes while we're there because they always seem to have a clearance section!!

We went to Blackbrooks garden center and they had all their Christmas stuff out and we bought some Christmas soaps.

Had Cornish pasties and mash (one of my favourite meals ever).

Went to the Ashford designer outlet and bought loads of clothes. They were about to open their Christmas market so the Christmas atmosphere was there. I always go into le creuset and dream I could buy all their stuff but it costs a fortune so I never buy anything lol.

Went to tkmaxx and I bought a watch and then we went to poundstrechers and I bought some Christmas grinch pyjamas for me and mum.

Played the game of life and I won!

;
Had the best roast dinner ever!!

Also had a battered sausage and chips from the fish and chips shop.

Bought the essentials as a type one diabetic. I always see English type one diabetics praise this brand so I had to give it a go and I had a hypo so I got to try these and I have to say I'm veryyyy impressed within minutes my blood sugar was going up again! Will buy more of these when I'm back in England.

As I said in last week's post, me and mum spent our Saturday afternoon going to loads of charity shops to buy loads of books again. I think me and mum must have bought like 30 books each on this trip so I'm definitely excited to start reading them all!!!

Not captured this week: me and my brother getting tickets to go see the Brazil vs Tunisia football match in Lille in 10 days!!

What I've been up to this week #10

We finished last week by going to the book shop in town and I grabbed a couple of books and I needed advice about my film camera so we also popped into the photography shop.

On Tuesday, my French family came to visit us in Dunkirk so we went for a walk at the beach. The weather was quite nice, it wasn't too cold or too windy. We walked on the other end of the beach which we don't usually go to but they have really pretty houses down the other end so it was nice to see them again. We ended the day by going to the bar for a drink all together

On Wednesday, we started the day by going to the cemetery to visit my dad's grave. I bought him these really pretty flowers and my family also bought him flowers so the grave was covered in plants which was nice.

Then to cheer ourselves, up we went to the Chinese all you can eat buffet. It was lovely to catch up with my godmother and my cousin because the last time I saw them was just after died so 8 years ago.

We then spent the afternoon wandering around town and ended up in a café / bar for a drink all together again. We ended up seeing the mayor of Dunkirk while we were there because the bar owner was receiving a prize! I also found a couple of bits for my junk journal at the shop opposite the bar which was exciting.

We finished the day by going to a baked potato restaurant even though we were still all stuffed from lunch lol. They were HUGE!!!!! And it came with a desert too! I've been there in the past but so long ago I have no memory of it but it was so nice I'm looking forward to going there again lol!

Then the most exciting part of the week crept upon us... we were on our way back to England for a week! We were meant to get the ferry but ended up getting the Euro-tunnel because of the storm!

We arrived back in Hastings just as the sunset happened

On our first full day there we decided to go to the old town and the shopping centre which was fun. The weather was lovely and we went to 3 different book shops so I bought loads of books because books in England are a third of the price of English books in France so we always stock up when we're over!!

The plan for today is to go back to town to visit all the charity shops and see what books they have!! We stumbled upon a charity shop we'd never been to last time we were over and all their books were £1 so me and mum are excited to go back there!

What I've been up to this week #9

Started the week by changing my cgm and my patch

Had multiple appointments this week so I went to Lille for the week which meant I got to see my friends and go out a lot

Went to the bar 3 times this week, once with my best friend because I hadn't seen him for a week and once with someone I'm in the process of becoming friends with (I hope!!!)

Did a bit of shopping and of course had to go to lush and sniff all the snow fairy products because it's my all time favourite scent lush have come out with

Went to the Italian restaurant

Spot the difference! Went to my favourite coffee shop ever twice this week (they have a salted caramel iced latte that I have cold with oat milk and it's the best coffee I've ever had!!)

Ended up spending a day in Brussels which was not planned at all but I had a lot of fun. We saw the manneken pis dressed up for world food day, we of course had to have a beer and I went to waterstones to eye up the books I want to buy when we go to England next week!

Had group therapy and we made butternut squash soup (which I'd never had but it was lovely. I even made mum taste the leftovers I ended up with) and we made mushroom and chicken pasta with bits of bacon which was really nice!!

Then I got the train back to Dunkirk and met mum outside her work a couple times

And we finished the week by going to the coffee shop before an appointment at the bank!
