What I've been up to this week #7

Started the week with a pretty sunrise

Then I got ready beacause I had a date that night and she bought me flowers (it was my first time receiving flowers at a date !!)

We even caught the pretty sunset at the beach during our picnic

Didou sunbathing

Quick selfie

Went out for beers with one of my friends

Wore lots of colourful makeup this week :)

Went to group therapy and we made bacon cheeseburgers and we had chocolate cake with English custard because I bought some from home! One of the nurses there said she loved it and was eating it straight from the bowl and asked me to bring some back again lol!!!

The highlight of my week has to be the la la land ciné concert me and my best friend went to. It's a thing where they put the film on and they have an orchestra do the music of the film!! It was really nice and fun we both loved it and both agreed that the music was so good that sometimes we forgot it was a live orchestra playing the music and not the music of the film itself!

We discovered that the venue was only a 25mn walk from our flats so we decided to go to our favourite bar on the way home which was fun as well !!

Then I got home on Friday, we ordered deliveroo and it was meant to take 20mn to come and in the end it took almost 2 hours, talk about "fast" food! But we did get some of our money back thankfully

Finally tasted ciao kombucha and I have to say it's the best kombucha I've had (I don't drink that much but I would happily drink more of this as well as all the other flavours when I find them in store!)

We also did another too good to go run this week and we got loaaads of meat, some yoghurt, some fruit juice, vegan meat and yoghurts, breads etc for not even 20€ and we got enough meat to use this week and even more to fill up the freezer!!

What I've been up to this week #6

I found these product in a makeup bag I never unpacked from holidays and I've been using them everyday this week. It's a moisturize and a sun cream which I use every day so this was a great rediscovery!

Started the week with a surprise visit,
from one of my friends from Lille, we went to the book shop together, I didn't buy anything because I already have loads of books to read and also because I only read in english and english books in france are 3x more expensive so I just stock up on books when we visit my grandparents !!

Made lots of very nice meals, this was oriental chicken with rice and broccoli which was very nice

Finished reading the housemaid and here's my review! I very rarely give books reviews on goodreads beacause I can never be bothered but this book was exceptionally good so I had to leave a review !

Started playing around with makeup again which I've always loved but I haven't taken the time to do it for months but I find it very therapeutic so I've found myself going back to it over the last few weeks!

Speaking of makeup, I saw this mascara go viral online because of how good it apparently made your lashes look, and all my mascaras have gone dry so I bought it (it was only 7€) and I have to say it is as good as people were making it out to be online !!

Started a new book on the train

Made biscoff ice cream sandwiches (recipe will be posted soon!)

The was the highlight of my week. My mum got me this candle making kit as part of my birthday present in sainsbury's and I finally got round to making them which was a loooot of fun !!! I'll be posting a seperate blog post about making this kit in the next few days!)

Made a chocolate cake which was very nice

Time for a new cgm and cgm cover

We spent our saturday afternoon collecting loads (7) of too good to go bags in various different supermarkets in town. We also got one in a bubble tea shop which was different than usual, we got a bubble tea, instant ramen and plum juice !! as well as loads of meat, drinkable yoghurt, salads, etc. We got a weeks worth of food for 20€!

On wednesday I also went to the book shop because they have a special Diddl collection which reminded me of when I was younger!

What I've been up to this week #5

Started of the weekend by going to the coffee shop for a smoothie and a muffin with mum. I wore my new coat that I bought on vinted and stripy trousers and mum said I looked like andy pandy (she said I looked like Luigi the day before because I was wearing green dungarees and a baseball cap lol)

Started the week by making a lemon cake without following a recipe which I thought would be a fail but it kinda worked (could have added a lot more lemon in my opinion)

Made homemade burgers and chips for dinner

Went to group therapy / cooking class and made pasta bolognese and it was one person's birthday so we also made a chocolate cake that we had with ice cream which was very nice but I didn’t get ice cream because i have diabetes lol

Started this book at the start of the week. I saw so many of my friends on goodreads reading this book and my sister kept recomending it to me so I thought I'd give it a chance. At the moment I'm 150 pages in and although it's not at all what I usually read, I'm enjoying it!

made lemon muffins because I had leftover lemons from making my lemon cake

went to the supermarket and found some ciao kombucha (which is the brand of a famous french youtuber). I told my sister I would wait for her to taste it so I can't give you my honest opinion about it at the moment!

Me and mum went to our favourite coffee shop for a smoothie and a muffin and we were waiting for our favourite shop to put their too good to go up on the app!

We got the goods!! We got 5 bags from 2 different shops which has filled our fridge and our freezer so that means we won't need to go shopping next week ! Bonus!!

REM beauty fembot collection review

One of the REM beauty liquid eyeshadow was released in the shade fembot and said shade got very popular. So popular that they decided to make a collection of products of that shade alone. I LOVED the liquid eyeshadow in that shade and after watching a lot of reviews I caved and bought the pressed eyeshadow and the lipgloss
Here's what the products look like ; on the left the liquid eyeshadow, in the middle the lipgloss and on the right the pressed eyeshadow

Thought I'd start by comparing the shades next to each other on the back of my hand. On the left is the liquid eyeshadow and on the right is the pressed eyeshadow
They feel different on the skin obviously but I also found them slightly different, maybe that's just because one is liquid and one is pressed, I don't really know!

Here's what they look like on the eyelid. On the left is the pressed eyeshadow. It feels kinda creamy and feels really nice on the skin. On the right is the liquid eyeshadow. As you can see they look slightly different. They both feel really nice when you apply them. I must say, I have a preference for the pressed eyeshadow. The glitter specks are more visible in my opinion and although both apply really easily on the eye, the pressed eyeshadow is easier to play around with.

Let me know if you've tried it yourself and what you thought of them!!!

My essentials as a type one diabetic

Firstly, the most important thing there is, insulin. I have a long lasting insulin which I inject every night and fast acting insulin which I inject before anytime I want to eat something

The second essential thing there can be, a cgm! This is a continuous glucos monitor and it basically tells me what my blood sugar is whenever I want or need to know it

these are not an essential but they're very good and useful to have, to me at least. These are cgm patches. These go over your cgm and stop it from unsticking from your arm as well as making it look cute. I buy mine from type one style, diabetic supply or organising chaos!

these are a couple of them I've worn over the last couple months!

next, if you travel a lot this is definitely an essential. Insulin can be kept outside the fridge for a month before it goes bad but it can go bad if it's exposed to the heat so I bought this cooler for my insulin as I was travelling quite a lot this summer. I particularly liked this one because it displays what temperature your insulin is. It comes with two ice packs that stay cold for a while. I bought mine of amazon!

this is totally not an essential but I bought this from diabetic supplies because my reader was boring and I wanted to make it more fun! Following on from the reader, the test strips are an essential. These are to measure your blood sugar (in case your cgm stops working or when your blood sugar is low or high to check the cgm is actually correct) and the ketone test strips are to basically measure the acidity of your blood (which happens when your blood sugar is too high) to know if you need to inject extra insulin or not!

these are definitely an essential to me. These are glucose shots that you drink when you're having a hypo (when your blood sugar is too low). I bought these off diabetic supply but I found out they're also sold at boots (if you're reading this from the UK). I read lots of people saying these were disgusting but honestly I liked it and despite it being pure sugar it didn't feel too sickly. Another version of the glucose shot is the chewable version but I prefer the berry flavour. I also have glucose gel but I've never used it yet so I'm yet to find out what it tastes like!

these are not really an essential but they're practical to have. When taking off your cgm it can leave a sticky feeling on your skin because of the adhesive so these are good to get rid of that stickiness ! Before buying these I used to use an oily makeup remover which also works to remove the adhesive! A spray version of this also exists but I never managed to get my hands on it which is why I went for the wipes in the end.

these are also very practical to have. It's a mini sharps bin to put your used needles in when you're on the go. I use this when I go out and need to take insulin. It can contain quite a few because I used this every time I needed to take insulin which is 4/5 times a day for 2 weeks! I bought mine from diabetic supply!

Another essential is diet drink test strips but I think they're only available in the USA because I can never find them online. They're basically a strip that you test your drink with and depending on the colour of the strip it'll indicate if your drink is diet or not!

These were my essentials, if you have any other essentials share them in the comments!!!! :)
